Human Trafficking Prevention

Human trafficking is incredibly widespread, and our hotels have an important role to play in keeping our community and our hotels safe from this harm. As of June 1, 2020, all Illinois hotels are required by law to provide human trafficking training to any employee who has “recurring interaction with guests.” 

​IHLA has partnered with Businesses Ending Slavery and Trafficking (BEST) to provide FREE human trafficking training for IHLA members and their staff. This 30-minute course can protect your hotel and even save a life.

Human Trafficking Prevention Month Proclamation BEST’s Inhospitable to Human Trafficking Training (ITT) is the most comprehensive human trafficking prevention training available for hospitality employees. BEST’s training explains the truth of trafficking, the risks of trafficking to hotels, and concrete steps on how staff can personally make a difference in the lives of children and adults who are exploited every day.

Businesses Ending Slavery and Trafficking (BEST) is the first nonprofit organization in the country dedicated entirely to working with businesses to disrupt human trafficking. BEST has provided consultation and training to hundreds of hotels focused on reducing human trafficking and mitigating the reputational, legal, and financial risks associated with it. BEST has trained thousands of hotel employees and equipped them to protect their hotel and employer from human trafficking.
